Vita D
AND LOVE AND CARE
Vita D for neonates, infants and children mean:
- Many years of experience – a precursor of innovation in supplementation with vitamins K and D;
- Quality of detail and simplicity of dosing;
- A single precisely determined dose of vitamin K and D consistent with experts’ recommendations;
- Possibility of daily use already from the first days of life, to satisfy the requirements for vitamins K and D of the neonate and infant;
-
“Twist – off” capsules:
- Safety, hygiene and convenience of use;
- On the basis of the MCT oil – very good tolerance and high assimilability.
The contents of vitamins K and D in mother’s milk are insufficient to cover the infant’s daily requirements. Therefore, in breastfed infants it is recommended to supplement these ingredients daily in strictly defined quantities1,2.
Vitamin D is necessary for normal formation of bone tissue.
Vitamin D is naturally produced in the skin, under the effect of sunrays. However, this process is poorly effective because the use of creams with sun blocks may reduce the yield of the skin synthesis under the effect of UVB radiation even by 90%. And skin synthesis is practically non-existent between October and March. It should also be borne in mind that direct sun exposure of infants aged below 6 months is not recommended2.
According to the current Polish guidelines for the prophylaxis of vitamin D deficiency, it is recommended to administer 400 IU vitamin D daily in neonates and infants2.
BREASTFED NEONATES AND INFANTS
should receive vitamin D at a dose of 400 IU, i.e. the contents of 1 “twist-off” capsule of Vita D or Vita K+D daily
Neonate – a child from birth till the end of 28th day of life
Infant – a child between the 28th day of life and the end of the 1st year of life
